Annabel is a Senior Associate in the Corporate & Commercial Practice of the Firm. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Legal Auditor. She has also undertaken Public Policy training at Strathmore University, strengthening her expertise at the intersection of law, governance, and public policy.

Annabel has strong expertise in corporate compliance, governance, regulation, and institutional advisory. She has extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and corporate documentation; advising boards and senior management on corporate governance and regulatory compliance; undertaking legal and governance audits; conducting legal due diligence; and supporting policy formulation, regulatory reform, and stakeholder engagement initiatives for public and private sector institutions.

Her practice focuses on translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, implementable frameworks that support sound decision-making, risk management, and institutional effectiveness.

Transaction Highlights

• Provided legal and policy advisory under the UK-funded Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) Programme, supporting county governments and municipalities in the development of an investment policy, model regulatory frameworks, and supporting by-laws.
• Advised the Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF) on the development of its Projects’ Funding Criteria, including the design of structured assessment and prioritisation frameworks to guide the identification, evaluation, and approval of public-interest projects for financing by the State Corporation.
• Undertook regulatory compliance audits for large corporates, including publicly listed entities. This work involved evaluating the adequacy of existing legal and compliance frameworks, mapping applicable statutory and regulatory obligations, conducting compliance risk assessments, and identifying governance, control, and remediation gaps.
• Provided data protection and privacy advisory services to public institutions and corporates, including compliance assessments, governance reviews, policy development, and advisory on regulatory and reputational risk management under Kenya’s data protection framework.
• Led and supported legal due diligence and transactional advisory for financial institutions and corporate clients, including the review, preparation, negotiation, and perfection of commercial contracts and transaction documentation.
• Delivered stakeholder engagement and advisory support across public-sector, donor-funded, and corporate engagements, including the design and facilitation of consultative processes, multi-stakeholder workshops, validation forums, and structured engagements with government agencies, development partners, private sector actors, and civil society.
