Jentrix Wanyama is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with diverse experience in technology and intellectual property law.

Her expertise includes data protection, regulatory compliance, commercial intellectual property protection, brand strategy and and licensing, Fintech, sports and entertainment law, and startup legal support. She is keen on policy and legislative development and has provided research on technology and intellectual policy and legislation for organizations such as Privacy International, Omidyar Network and the Senate of Kenya.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Strathmore University) and Post Graduate Diploma in Law (KSL).

Transaction Highlights 

• Provided legal due diligence and transactional support for a multi-national entity acquiring a Kenyan entity valued at Kes 1 Billion in the cell tower sector.
• Provided crisis support, and representation before the Office of the Data Protection (ODPC) for a client in the insurance technology (insure-tech) sector affected by a personal data breach, as well as coordinating interactions with other relevant regulators.
• Supported data processors affected by personal data breaches in notifying relevant data controllers and making statutory-compliant notifications of breaches to the ODPC.
• Supported data controllers in making notifications of personal data breaches to the ODPC and duly communicating the breach to affected data subjects within statutory timelines.
• Performed a data protection audit on a multinational non-governmental organization covering Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
• Provided data protection advisory opinions for various entities on data governance matters.
• Advised a biotechnology company on the structuring of a Software as a Service (SaaS) agreement with a technology service provider.
• Conducted trainings for client staff on data protection compliance and artificial intelligence governance.
• Advised a Pan-African bank on the review of a technology contract for a fintech product
