Stacy Waweru is an Associate in the Firm’s Projects (Energy and Infrastructure) Practice specialized in large scale infrastructure and construction projects. She is a passionate, proactive, keen, and a resourceful commercial specialist who has supported project developers and financers throughout the project life-cycle.

Her main areas of focus include Urban Transport Infrastructure, Housing, Sustainable Industrial Parks/ Special Economic Zones, and Climate Finance.  She supports the team with conducting legal due diligence, contract reviews and structuring of projects for compliance under various Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks.

Transaction Highlights

  • Legal Support in the structuring of Nairobi Smart Street Lighting (NSSL) PPP Project which seeks to establish a smart street lighting system in Nairobi City County (NCC) and install 100,000 lighting fixtures.
  • Transaction advisory services for the proposed roll out of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system within Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA). This included providing legal support in developing an operating structure for the Bus Operating Company (BOC) which will operate the BRT services.
  • Transaction advisory services for the establishment of Oserian Two Lakes Industrial Park (OTLIP),a privately-owned Industrial Park and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) within a 7,500-hectare mixed use development in Naivasha, Kenya.
  • Legal Support in the development of Kilifi Eco-Industrial Park, the first project of its kind featuring a port supported special economic zone with sustainable and eco-friendly aspects including drafting key corporate documents among them the park’s Sustainability Charte
  • Legal support in the transaction preparation for the development of Mombasa Port Berth 11-14 project which involved the reconstruction of the existing Terminal into a modern container and general cargo terminal under a PPP arrangement.
  • Legal Analyst in the development of a Project’s Funding Criteria for Water Sector Trust Fund which seeks to provide an equitable and transparent funding framework which will be used to evaluate, select and prioritize water and sanitation projects for funding.
  • Business transaction advisor under the USAID’S Feed the Future Kenya Investment Mechanism (KIM), a five-year funded program which aims to mobilize USD. 400 Million of capital into the horticulture, dairy, livestock, and clean energy value chains (VCs) by facilitating an enabling environment conducive for investment.
  • Part of the team in policy lobbying for a special electricity tariff for a large Telecommunication Company in Kenya. This involved developing a white paper on proposed policy and regulatory measures to reduce the cost of power for Telecommunication Network Providers in Kenya.
