Africa Continental Free Trade Area: An Opportunity for Africa to Display its Intimidating Arsenal After a Pandemic

Africa has a reason to smile after trading within the African Continental Free Trade Area (“AfCFTA”) began on 1 January 2021, marking a significant milestone for Cross Border Trade and Investments. AfCFTA is a flagship project of Agenda 2063 of the African Union and has been dubbed as the ‘hope for Africa to be lifted out of poverty’. The African Continental Free Trade Agreement (the “Agreement”) was signed by 54 of the 55 African Union (“AU”) nations in Kigali, Rwanda on 21 March 2018.
